THE owner of a magic shop has expressed disappointment after a 150-year old window was smashed.

Oliver Dall, owner of Oliver’s Brighton in Trafalgar Street, left the shop at around midnight last night, but when he returned at 7am this morning, the window was broken with smashed glass on the floor.

He said: “The shop is a 150-year-old property and this was the original glass, so that’s a shame.

“It’s disappointing because it has been there for over a century.”

Oliver has contacted the police and is hopeful that some of the cost of repairing the window will be covered by insurance.

Damage was also inflicted on several of the shop’s awards by the broken window.

He noted there were lots of marks on the window, “like hand prints”, and said that he suspects that the damage may have been done accidentally after reviewing CCTV footage.

The shop remains open for business by appointment as normal, but with work going on around the window.
