A MAN has been arrested following an incident at a town centre bar involving a large blade.

The 18-year-old, from Rye, was arrested in the early-hours of Saturday, February 26, on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

A knife was discovered after the man was ejected from Yates, in Robertson Road, Hastings.

Door staff restrained the individual outside the venue until police arrived.

A spokeswoman for Yates in Hastings said: “An individual was apprehended at our venue, and a weapon removed by our professional door team.

“The police were called, and the man was arrested. Our CCTV will be made available to the police to assist them with their enquiries.”

No one was hurt at the scene, while onlookers could be seen cheering as the blade was safely taken away.

A Spokesman for Sussex Police said: “The man has been released on conditional bail until March 24.

“We are aware of a video circulating on social media of the incident and would respectfully ask anyone with any further information to report online or call 101, quoting serial 79 of 26/02.”
