WE WISH to propose that Andy Winters who is retiring from Brighton Housing Trust should be granted the Freedom of the City.
Over his 37 years with the trust he has built an organisation that not only helps the homeless but provides residential rehabilitation, mental health services,
specialist housing and legal advice and work, learning and training initiatives.
His advice to not give money to those begging in the street has been controversial. However his view has been born of his long experience in helping not only the most vulnerable of our community but the most challenging.
BHT offers practical help and we hope that in the future the city council appreciates and supports BHT in every way possible.
