INEQUALITY and a lack of specialist places are addressed as a council asks the public for guidance.
West Sussex county council is urging people with links to education to come forward and have their say on its Education and Skills strategy.
The plan is in the early stages of development, and will target areas highlighted as issues in the education system, which include:
• The pace of academic improvement
• Inequality of education standards depending on where people live
• A lack of specialist school places for children with special educational needs and disabilities
• Disadvantaged children who need assistance with preparing to start school

Nigel Jupp, cabinet member for learning & skills, said: “There is much to celebrate in education in West Sussex, but also areas of challenge and where improvement can be made.”
The online survey is open now via the council's website.
