A FILM starring singer Harry Styes and shot at locations across the city has received rave reviews at a test screening.
My Policeman, which was filmed in Brighton and other parts of Sussex in spring last year, was shown at an advanced test screen in San Diego earlier this month.
The production, based on the novel by Brighton author Bethan Roberts, stars former one Direction star Harry Styles and The Crown’s Emma Corrin.
According to the Twitter account My Policeman Updates, those at the screening were “raving about how good it is”, emphasising its “gorgeous visuals" and “amazing” acting.
Harry’s performance was also praised for being “very nuanced”.
The film is expected to be released on Amazon Prime later this year, though an exact date has not yet been confirmed.
My Policeman is set largely in Brighton and Hove, but locations in Saltdean, Peacehaven and Newhaven were also used for filming.
Harry plays Tom, a gay policeman who marries Marion, played by Emma, to conceal his secret relationship with a young man called Patrick.
Filming began in Worthing in May 2021.
Harry was pictured filming an on-screen kiss with Emma outside The Vine pub in Tarring.
Film trailers, several classic cars and large camera crews were also seen in the car park of Worthing Leisure Centre.
Harry and Emma, who shot to fame in Netflix hit The Crown, were spotted filming at the Royal Pavilion and the Brighton Dome.
Filming also took place in Regency Square, Brighton and Brunswick Square, Hove.
Hundreds of extras alongside Harry and Emma were seen on Brighton Palace Pier, with set designers transporting the landmark back in time to the 1950s.
Madeira Drive and Hove seafront are also expected to feature heavily.
A large section of the promenade was sectioned off for filming, and members of the public were told they could not walk along the beach parallel to Hove Lawns.
Harry waved to fans as he left the seafront set and shouted over to members of an exercise class, which was taking place on the lawns.
