A MAN has been taken to hospital with injuries following reports of an assault involving an unknown substance.
Armed police and fire crews were spotted at Bourne Street in Eastbourne last night following reports of an assault, with officers conducting a search of the area.
A police spokesman said it is believed to be an isolated incident.
He said: “Officers responded to a report of an assault involving a substance in Bourne Street, Eastbourne at 10pm on Friday, March 18.
“A man has been taken to hospital with injuries.
“Police remain at the scene to provide reassurance.”
Police are appealing to locate a white man, around 35-years-old, 5’7”, of large build and dark wavy hair. He was said to be wearing a white T-shirt and denim jeans.
Witnesses can report to the police online or via 101, quoting serial 1457 of 18/03.
