INTERNATIONAL opera stars are to perform at a concert to raise money for the humanitarian appeal in Ukraine.
Ukrainian performers Alla Kravchuk and Vasyl Savenko will take to the stage at St Bartholomew’s Church in Ann Street, Brighton on Saturday, April 2.
They will be joined by pianist Christopher Gold at the concert, which will celebrate Ukraine’s folk culture and rich operatic history.
Parish Priest Father Ben said the concert will give people the opportunity to experience Ukranina culture, while also supporting the plight of those directly affected by the ongoing conflict.
He said: “The situation in Ukraine is becoming increasingly desperate.
“Through this concert we have an opportunity to raise some money for charities and agencies offering aid to those who are so badly affected by the events in Ukraine.
“It’s a great privilege and honour to have Alla and Vasyl appear at St Bart’s. This is a very real way in which we can stand in solidarity with Ukraine and offer our support."
Opera star Vasyl has performed in Brighton before, as a guest soloist with the, Boyan Ensemble of Kyiv, whose members are drawn from Ukraine’s top professional choir.
Tickets are £18 for adults and £10 on the door for under those under 18.
All the proceeds are to be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
Tickets are available from www.eventbrite.co.uk
