A FORMER Albion star is among the unluckiest players to miss out of an England call-up, according to a recent poll.

Dan Burn made 74 appearances for Brighton and Hove Albion after signing for the side in 2018.

In January, the 29-year-old joined his boyhood club Newcastle United for a reported £13 million fee.

After an impressive start to his time at St. James' Park, Burn’s name was mentioned by fans and pundits as a potential option for Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

However, ahead of friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast, Crawley-born manager Southgate picked Alexander-Arnold, James, Shaw, Coady, Maguire, Guehi, Mings, Stones and White as his defensive options.

According to a recent poll conducted by OLGB, the former Albion defender is the fourth unluckiest player not to earn an England call-up.

Burn received 9.66 per cent of the vote.

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho (19.31 per cent) was the unluckiest not be picked, with AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori (16.95 per cent) ranked second.

Brentford striker Ivan Toney (15.88 per cent) was the other player to rank above Burn.

Earlier this month after photos of a Burn were published, many fans noticed that the former Seagulls star was missing a finger.

According to reports, Burn lost his ring finger on his right hand following an accident he was involved in as a teenager.

At the age of 13, Burn was allegedly wearing a ring while climbing a fence when it caught on a spike, according to The Free Library.

The incident led to his finger being ripped off.
