A SWIMMING school has pledged to keep sending supplies to Ukraine until their efforts are no longer needed.

Brighton Swimming School, based at the Brighton Swimming Centre in Eastern Road, began sending essential aid to the Polish border with Ukraine when war broke out in February.

Its customers received list of required items and continue to give all they can to the school’s cause, in an effort

Donations are also made by the school, on behalf of its customers, to a Polish community group in London, which makes weekly trips to the border.

Paul Smith, owner of Brighton Swimming School, said: “I was immediately shocked and sickened by the suffering and felt I had to do something, so we developed a plan.

“To date we have collected over three tons of aid. I think people are genuinely very upset about what is happening and they are determined to help.”

The school has been working with a large group of volunteers to coordinate the project, which will “continue to run until the demand is no longer required”.

The school is also running its “Swim for Ukraine” day on Saturday, April 24, where people are invited to swim at the Brighton Swimming Centre pool with all proceeds going to the Ukrainian Aid charities.
