A NUMBER of “incidents” have caused railway delays.
Southern Rail said their workers are “responding to a few incidents” between Brighton and Seaford.
As a result, trains are having to terminate and start back at Lewes, in the direction of Brighton.
Customers are also being urged to allow additional time to complete their travels.
At 6.39am on Wednesday, March 30, a Southern Rail spokeswoman said: “We're responding to a few incidents between Brighton and Seaford.
“Some trains are having to terminate and start back at Lewes (in the direction of Brighton).
“Please check your journey before setting off this morning.
““This is owing to an operational incident at Newhaven Town.
In the interest of safety, we are also having to 'talk past' a signal (receiving verbal confirmation from the signaller) outside of Lewes.
“You should allow extra time to complete travel.”
Train tickets will also be accepted on Brighton and Hove bus routes 12,12A,12X for Brighton, Newhaven Town, Bishopstone (Hill Rise), Seaford and Eastbourne.
By 7.08am, the Southern Rail spokeswoman said: “The freight train involved in this operational incident has since moved and we're in the process of reintroducing services towards Seaford.”
