TWO people suffered minor injuries in a brawl in a high street cafe.

The altercation happened at around 1pm on Tuesday in Clinton Place, Seaford.

Several police cars could be seen on the A259 Sutton Road with a police cordon stretching 30 metres down the high street along the pavement.

It was initially not confirmed how many people were involved in the incident, but Sussex Police said a 42-year-old man and 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Both have been released on conditional bail until April 25, pending police enquiries.

The force later confirmed that a man, 66, and a woman, 40, sustained minor injuries in the incident.

One passerby said someone was pushed into the cafe window.

Drops of blood could be seen on the floor both inside and outside the police cordon.

The cordon remained in place all afternoon and into the evening while forensic investigators collected evidence along the pavement.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Police responded to a report of disturbance at a premises in Clinton Place, Seaford, shortly after 1pm on Tuesday.

“A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and has been bailed until April 25, pending further enquiries.

“A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and has been bailed until April 25, pending further enquiries.

“The victims, a man aged 66 and a woman aged 40, sustained minor injuries during the incident.”
