A MUM and daughter duo are cycling to Paris for charity.

Elizabeth Wells, 13, is a pupil at Waldorf school, in Brighton, and is cycling to the French capital city after she was tasked with learning how to maintain a bicycle for her Year 8 project.

Elizabeth and her mum, Jocelyn Rose, 39, set off on Tuesday, March 29, and are due to arrive in Paris today.

The pair from Woodingdean had hoped to raise £1 for each mile of their trip, but have already surpassed the £194 target by reaching over £1,100, with all donations going to Brighton domestic abuse charity, Rise.

“My mind has been blown by people’s generosity,” said Elizabeth, who at the time of speaking on Friday evening, was enjoying a “tea and chocolate meringue break” in Cergy, near the French capital.

“Checking the Just Giving page has helped us keep going through the snow.

“I have wanted to go to Paris since I was a little girl, as I have always loved chocolate eclairs.”

Elizabeth and Jocelyn have made speedy progress, completing 53 miles on Thursday alone – though admit they have gotten lost at various points along the way.
