A ROAD is currently closed after a crash involving a motorbike.

Police were called shortly after 12.20pm today to the crash on the A281 Brighton Road at the Nuthurst Road junction, near Horsham.

The road remained closed between Nuthurst Road and Pound Lane while emergency services responded. The stretch of closed road was just over two-miles long.

The Argus understands that the crash was a single-vehicle collision.

An update from Sussex Police confirmed that the motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with injuries "not initially assessed as serious".

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: “Police were called to the A281 Brighton Road in Horsham around 12.20pm on Sunday (April 3) to reports of a collision involving a motorbike.

“The road is currently closed between the Nuthurst Road and Pound Lane junctions while emergency services respond to the incident.

“No further information is available at this time.”

Another update said: "The motorcycle rider has been taken to hospital with injuries not initially assessed as serious."

Traffic was slow both ways but the road is now reopened.
