BRITAIN’S second biggest marathon is back in Brighton.

The Brighton Marathon Weekend is returning for another year, with thousands of people expected to take to the streets to raise money for their chosen charities.

The event includes several races across the weekend including the marathon, the BM10k, BM Ride and the mini mile races.

The weekend kicks off with the Mini Mile races in Preston Park between 10am and 3pm on Saturday, April 9.

This is a fast-paced one-mile race around Preston Park in Brighton with separate races for boys and girls aged from seven to 17.

The Brighton Marathon Ride is a cycling event taking place before the marathon and 10k will allow riders to make the most of the marathon route by riding along the closed roads in the centre of Brighton and Hove. Cyclists can arrive from 6.15am and the race will begin at 6.45am.

On Sunday, April 10 the BM10k race will start at Preston Park at 9am and followed by the marathon at 9.45am.

The 10k course is described as “flat, scenic and great for a PB”, taking participants through the city centre and finishing just before the marathon on the seafront.

The marathon course that starts in Preston Park at 9.45am, snakes its way through Brighton city centre, along the seafront and finishes at Madeira Drive in front of thousands of cheering spectators.

A huge total of 20,000 people registered to take part in the event, making it the largest Brighton Marathon to date.
