A COMMUNITY choir raised over £1,000 for an appeal to help Ukrainian refugees.

The Tone Rangers from Portslade sang to a packed house at The Brunswick pub in Hove to raise money for the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine appeal.

The choir, which rehearses at South Portslade Community Centre every Wednesday, sang a selection of old and new pop songs, together with some more traditional tunes.

Choir leader Sharon Lewis said: “We all want to do something to help those suffering in Ukraine and the choir was very keen to help in the best way they could - by singing.”

An Argus appeal to raise money for those fleeing the conflict in Ukraine has now raised almost £30,000.

Donations from the #ThereForUkraine fundraiser, backed by DJ Fatboy Slim, will go direct to the British Red Cross DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal to help civilians affected by the ongoing crisis.
