BUS and train companies have warned of cancellations and disruption as one of the UK’s biggest marathons returns to the city.
Thousands of people are set to take to the streets for Brighton Marathon to raise money for a range of chosen charities.
A limited bus service will run until 12pm on Sunday, April 10, when full services will begin to be restored.
From 7am until 12pm, services from the north and east of the city will not cross, enter or start from Old Steine, with Coast Road services terminating and restarting from Upper Bedford Street until 12.30pm.
Services to Hove Town Hall and New Church Rod will also be disrupted from 7am until 4pm due to road closures.
A full list of affected routes can be found on Brighton and Hove Buses’ website.
Southern and Thameslink services will also be affected.
Preston Park station, located near the start of the marathon route, will be closed until midday and a queuing system will be in place at Brighton station for the duration of the event.
Bicycles will also not be permitted on Southern and Thameslink trains from the start of service until 12pm, but restrictions will continue on services departing from any station between Gatwick Airport, Chichester, Bognor Regis, Littlehampton, Seaford, Eastbourne, Pevensey and Westham, and Brighton.
This year’s marathon will be the 12th to take place in the city, with last year’s event moved from April to September due to the coronavirus pandemic.
