A MAN is taking part in the Brighton Marathon 10k to raise money for medical aid for Ukraine.

Anthony Seddon and his wife Anna, from Dnipro, Ukraine, are on a mission to help those who are unable to flee the conflict with much-needed supplies.

Anthony, who is a lifelong Albion fan, has agreed to complete a sponsored run of the distance between the Amex stadium and Anna’s local football club’s stadium in Dnipro.

The total is 1,569 miles and he will be running it 10K at a time for however long it takes.

Anna, 32, and Anthony, 40, have been married for eight years, after meeting in Anna’s hometown.

Anna’s mother and brother still live in Dnipro and have been devastated by the conflict.

Her brother, his wife and their two-year-old son are left in the war torn city.

Anthony has a Gofundme page to help raise money for the supplies through his running.

Originally, Anthony delivered the medical aid himself but he could only travel every three weeks

But they have since come into contact with volunteers who are going to Poland from London every week, so now have started sending the medical aid with them instead as it means they can get the aid to Dnipro more regularly.

Anthony said: “The running is going really well so far, I’ve completed a couple of 10ks and have been upping my distance in training runs ready to step up to half marathons.

“I’m really looking forward to running in my hometown in front of some friends and family this week and hope the Gofundme gets a boost off of the back of it.

“We sent our third package of medical aid to Ukraine this week but want to do more.”

Along the way Anthony has had support from friends and strangers, with some even offering to run alongside him.

Anthony added: “I’ve had a few friends offer to run one off events for the fundraiser.

“Had one mate run in Kent with me and got three running this Sunday.

“I’ve got another four running at Worthing Run Fest on April 24.

“A total stranger contacted me to say he’d run with me too.”

He is now looking to enlist other runners to join him on his runs.

“I’ve had a fantastic response from people wanting to run with me to help raise funds already.

“Hopefully, a few more will be inspired to join me when they see us all running together this Sunday.”
