EMERGENCY services have been called after a “fairground ride” caught fire on a major road.
Police and fire crews are currently at the scene on the A272 west of Cowfold.
The road is currently open, but only one lane is un use.
West Sussex Highways are also in attendance.
An AA traffic update said: “Partially blocked and slow traffic due to recovery work and vehicle fire on A272 Brownings Hill both ways between Thornden and Burnthouse Lane.
“There is a fairground ride on fire which has melted the road surface. The road has been reduced to one lane.”
