A LOCAL radio station has announced a new member of their team.

Regency Radio in Brighton is welcoming former Heart FM breakfast DJ Lynsey Bartlett to their new show on Saturdays 7 to 10am.

The show starts from Saturday, April 16 with a revamp of the schedule set to launch from Monday 18.

Lynsey’s new role takes the number of presenters at the station to 15, 11 more than when it first launched in May, 2021 on DAB (digital audio broadcasting), smart speakers, the Regency Radio mobile app and online.

The station is the first advert-free nonstop music station in the UK and has already achieved amazing audience figures with 59,000 listeners in the 16 to 60 age group.

With its success the station has been offered the chance to get on the Sussex Multiplex to cover all of Sussex on Dab plus parts of Kent, Hampshire and Surrey which will increase its potential audience from 300,000 to 1.7 million listeners, so are looking for investors to help Regency achieve that goal soon.

Lynsey Bartlett said: “My obsession with radio started early; as a kid I would squirrel myself away with my top-loading cassette recorder and make pretend shows for hours on end.

“But dreams can come true, and I have been lucky enough to work in this crazy industry most of my adult life.

“I have lived in Brighton and Hove for more than two decades and to be on air in this amazing city is a real privilege.

“To call this awesome place so full of diverse, vibrant people my home is wonderful.

“I am delighted to be joining this great team of Presenters on Regency Radio who have created the station that everyone in the city is talking about.”

Jay Jackson, one of the station directors said: “We are all delighted to see Lynsey join the team and add her warmth and charm to our already very talented team and it’s a big thrill to see these presenters flourish in their field while growing audiences.”
