A NEW pub has opened specialising in selling local craft beers.

The Tap on South Road, Haywards Heath is the first micropub in the area to be tailored to the craft beer market.

The Tap is being opened by Sussex brewer Paul Swaffield, the founder of Bestens Brewery, local pub manager Dave Pilling and their business partner, Lindfield resident, Richard Evans.

Their new micropub will sell a range of Bestens beers on tap as well as a variety of guest craft beers with a focus on local breweries as well as some from across the UK.

With the help from South Down Cellars they have curated a wine list as well as offering an array of artisan spirits.

The Tap opened its doors to the public on Friday, April 1, 2022.

Paul said: “The popularity of craft beer has been growing right around the UK and we felt now was the time to create a space where people can come together to enjoy a pint in Haywards Heath.

“I started brewing as a teenager in my parent’s garage in Lindfield over 20 years ago, and now to have our own pub in Haywards Heath is a fantastic feeling.”

According to the recent Siba Craft Beer report three-quarters of beer drinkers say it is important that their local pub offers a range of craft beers from small breweries and The Tap will cater to this growing taste for locally brewed small batch beer in Haywards Heath.
