RESIDENTS have been told to avoid part of a town centre following reports of a suspected unexploded grenade.
Officers have been called to a garden in Langney Road, Eastbourne, with people advised to stay away from the area while police assess the situation.
Pictures from the scene show several police officers and vehicles along the road dealing with the incident.
A spokesman for Eastbourne Police said: "Officers are currently on scene following reports of a suspected unexploded grenade in a garden in Langney Road, Eastbourne.
"Local residents are advised to stay away from the area if possible while we continue to assess the situation."
