A FEW weeks ago you published an article about the work which was due to be started on the new bridge at Cuckmere.

Once again this has ground to a halt due to South Downs National Parks having to be involved.

It seems that, up until now, they have been unable to agree the existing plans, so that they have refused permission for the work to start.

At the present rate of progress or should I say lack of progress, the finance that the government has put in place will just about cover the cost of any painting which may be required.

I think it is absolutely disgraceful that a project such as this can be held up by the people running the parks. It makes me wonder how they manage to make any decisions at all concerning the national parks.

As anyone who uses the A259 will tell you, the delays caused by this bridge can be horrific and the exhaust emissions which are caused by waiting vehicles are not good for the environment. This goes against any good that the national parks may be achieving.
