A MAN has been fined for assaulting a police officer and being drunk in public.
Paul Edge has been ordered to pay a total of £495 by Brighton magistrates for assaulting PC Stephen Austin in Cavendish Place and being drunk and disorderly in Cornfield Road in Eastbourne on July 4, 2020.
The 20-year-old pleaded guilty to both offences, having previously entered a not guilty plea.
He was ordered to undertake 50 days of rehabilitation and pay £100 compensation.
Edge, of Downland Close, Eastbourne, will also have to pay £300 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a surcharge of £95 to fund victim services.
