A MAN has avoided prison after stealing almost £4,500 worth of goods from a supermarket in two separate incidents.
Victor Ion has been handed two 12 week prison sentences, both suspended for 12 months, for stealing £3,488 and £818 worth of goods from Waitrose in Western Road, Brighton, on March 5 and March 12 this year.
The 62-year-old pleaded guilty to both offences.
Ion, of Oval Road South, Dagenham, will also have to pay £128 to fund victim services.
