AN 85-YEAR-OLD man has died in a fire at a property.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the blaze in The Hornet, Chichester, at about 7.25pm on Tuesday, May 3.
Sussex Police said an 85-year-old man has died in the incident.
His next of kin have been informed.
“There were no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be prepared for the coroner,” a police spokesman said.
Photos from the scene show multiple police cars and fire engines.
Police closed the road while the incident was dealt with.
A West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “At 7.22pm, we were called to a fire at a property on The Hornet, Chichester.
“Joint Fire Control mobilised four fire engines from Chichester and Bognor to the incident.
"Sadly an 85-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene and we are continuing a joint investigation with Sussex Police to establish the cause of the fire."
