A PERSON has been hit by a train, a railway company has confirmed.

All train lines between Three Bridges and Horsham are blocked following the incident.

A Southern Rail spokesman said: “It was with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between Three Bridges and Horsham.

“All lines are blocked between these stations whilst the emergency services work to deal with this incident.”

Tickets will be accepted on Metrobus services between Three Bridges, Crawley and Horsham.

The spokesman said: “If you're travelling between London,Croydon,Gatwick. to or from Barnham, Portsmouth and Southampton, you'd be best to travel via Brighton or Hove.

“Some services between Portsmouth, Southampton,Bognor and Victoria may be diverted via Hove and Worthing.

"As such, stations between Horsham and Arundel will have either a very limited service or no service at all.

“We'd strongly advise that you travel later today if you can.

"If you travel now, your journey will take much longer than usual, at least an extra 60 minutes, if not more.

"If you travel now, allow plenty of extra time & consider alternative transport routes for your journey.”
