AN ALBION star has been pictured rescuing a seagull from his chimney.

Dutch defender Joël Veltman posted on his social media after he “heard strange sounds coming from the chimney”.

The footballer turned animal rescuer spent his Sunday afternoon rescuing the gull.

It comes just 24 hours after helping Brighton to a clean sheet with a mature performance in their 4-0 romping of Manchester United at the Amex.

The 30-year-old, who has played 32 times for the Seagulls this season, put on an oven glove to rescue the animal after it got “stuck in the chimney” at his house in Millionaires’ Row in Hove.

The seagull appeared to be a bit dazed but flew off happily on what was a bright, sunny day in the city.

He added: "One seagull setting another free!".

Veltman joined Brighton in summer 2020 for a cut price deal of just £900,000 from Dutch side Ajax. He has made 60 appearances for the club in total, scoring one goal.

Albion's next match is against Leeds United away on Sunday, May 15 at 2pm.
