A POPULAR pub has been forced to close temporarily while urgent internal repairs are carried out.

The Green Dragon in Brighton shut its doors to the public while repairs to the ceiling are undertaken, with the pub expected to re-open today.

Pictures taken from inside the pub show the exposed ceiling, with debris scattered across the bar and seating areas.

The pub, located on Sydney Street, placed a sign outside the establishment on Sunday, which read: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are closed until further notice.

“Sorry to cause any inconvenience.”

A spokesman from The Green Dragon said: “We are currently closed while we complete some internal repairs, but are looking forward to welcoming guests again as we re-open on Tuesday.”

The pub did not comment on the nature of the work.

In 2019, the pub returned to its original name of The Green Dragon after a major revamp.

Formerly The Office, the pub changed its name and introduced a new menu.

At the time of the revamp, a spokesman for owners Bermondsey Pubs said: “We’ll be freshening up the pub, giving it a more open plan feel and rediscovering its traditional style.”

When operating under the name The Office, the pub had previously had a Thai kitchen which had been operating for 15 years.
