A BURGER restaurant has taken over the kitchen at a city centre pub.

Burger Off has launched a three week pop-up at The Park Crescent near the Level in Brighton.

It comes after Burger Off announced last week that it was closing its restaurant in Brunswick Street, Hove, with “immediate effect”.

Customers were quick to express their shock at the news and social media was flooded with meaningful messages for the burger joint.

A Burger Off spokesman said: “We are truly astonished at all the love, support and well wishes we have received from the closure of the shop.

“We would like to assure you all that we are certainly not gone for ever.

“We are looking into a pub pop-up for a few weeks and then a new home shortly after that.”

Burgers will be served on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the pub from 5pm to 9pm for eating in, take away and delivery.

Deliveries of meat, vegetarian and vegan burgers will be available through takeaway website Dinner2Go.

Burger Off will be offering a small menu than it ran at its previous home in Hove due to the smaller kitchen.

The Hove restaurant became known for creating a burger so spicy that it came with a health warning.

The XXX Hot Chilli Burger was made using a secret recipe and featured the hottest chillies available.

Customers had to sign a legal disclaimer saying they would not sue before taking their first bite.

Two Argus reporters were taken to hospital in 2014 after trying the burger, which contained sauce hotter than pepper spray.
