A GALLERY celebrating the Queen’s platinum jubilee has opened on Worthing seafront.
One of Us by artist Anna Brownsted comprises 19 digital collages, documenting various points of the Queen’s 70-year reign, and how the monarchy intertwines with our lives.
Each exhibit fuses an archive image of Worthing’s scenery and history with an image of the long-reigning monarch.
Anna, who is from the United States, said: “One of Us is about how we record our stories, how we choose to share these stories and how the grand narrative of the monarchy threads through everyday British life.
“During the course of my research I have fallen in love with Worthing.”
Residents of Worthing were asked to send their personal photos and newspaper clippings to the artist.
As well as the physical artwork, there is a downloadable app to add another layer, which will animate the exhibits through video and sound.
Councillor Lionel Harman, mayor of the borough of Worthing, said: “The artwork here is one of many projects underway to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee and I am honoured to have been asked to help launch so many of Worthing’s events.”
