A CYCLIST has been killed in a fatal crash.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash in America Lane, Haywards Heath, on Monday, May 16.
Officers responded to a call from the ambulance service of a cyclist lying on the side of the road.
“Paramedics performed CPR on the cyclist, but unfortunately he was pronounced dead at the scene,” a police spokesman said.
The road was closed for about two hours while emergency services attended the incident.
Sergeant Kieran McDonald said: "Sadly, a local man who was a keen cyclist died at the scene despite the best efforts of local members of the public and emergency services that were in attendance.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police."
Police are appealing for information and witnesses to the fatal crash, which happened at about 1.05pm.
Anyone with information which could help officers with their investigation is asked to report it to police by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk or call 101, quoting Operation Aston.
