ALMOST £7,000 of drugs were recovered from a Ford Focus after it was stopped by police, a court has heard.

The blue Ford Focus was stopped in Swindon on June 21, 2020, with Robert Michael Borley inside.

He was found with cocaine for his personal use as well as cannabis and cash, prosecutor Keith Ballinger said this week.

In all, just under £7,000 of drugs were seized, and when officers examined his bank account, they found “unexplained deposits” in the region of £11,000.

“We suggest he appears to have a significant role, and is selling directly to users,” Mr Ballinger told Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (May 17).

Borley, of St Margarets Close in Calne, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis, possession of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of cannabis and acquiring criminal property.

Despite a plea from Borley’s barrister, Moses Tawo, to sentence him in the magistrates’ court, the panel refused, and said: “The offences happened before our increased sentencing power and even with the discount for guilty plea, it doesn’t fall within our remit.”

He was released on unconditional bail ahead of sentencing at Swindon Crown Court on June 17.

Meanwhile, his co-defendant denied the charges and now faces a jury trial.

Steven Peter Stiles is alleged to have also been concerned in the supply of Class B drugs in Swindon on June 21.

He’s further charged with possession of cannabis and acquiring criminal property, namely money.

The 57-year-old entered not guilty pleas at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and was released on unconditional bail.

Stiles, of Station Hill in Chippenham, will next appear at Swindon Crown Court on June 17.
