A DOG lover is to take on a gruelling fundraising challenge to raise money for an animal charity.

Polly Cannon and her three sisters are to run 30 miles along Worthing seafront to raise money for the Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Brighton Road, Shoreham.

The 33-year-old said her sisters decided to take on the challenge as a way of raising money for their favourite cause and to celebrate each of them reaching milestone birthdays.

Polly’s sister Cherry Simmonds is celebrating her 50th birthday, while Kate Canford is celebrating her 40th and her younger sister Sophie is marking her 29th year.

Tristan Lathey, Dogs Trust community fundraising officer said: “We are so grateful to Polly and her sisters for taking on this challenge in support of Dogs Trust.

“Every penny raised will help us ensure we can continue to give dogs like Peppy everything they need until they find their forever homes.”

Adel Burnett, manager at the Shoreham rehoming centre, said the money will help all the animals at the centre, like six-year-old Patterdale-cross Peppy, who is still waiting to be rehomed.

He said: “Peppy would love a rural retreat to call his home as he likes the quiet life.

“He is a fun, playful boy, who is hoping to be the only pet, in an adult-only home, where he can be the centre of attention and love.

"Peppy is super smart and has been making great progress with his training. He has been building on his dog social skills, and he has grown to like having a regular walking buddy that he knows well. He will thrive in a peaceful home, with a family who lead a quieter lifestyle, where he can relax and be himself.

“He’ll make an excellent companion for active adopters who are interested in reward-based training, who will find great pleasure in watching Peppy blossom further.”

Polly’s run will begin at Beach House Grounds on Worthing Seafront on June 26.

She has currently raised £80 of her £500 target.
