YEARS & Years delivered pop perfection with their showstopping performance at a packed-out Brighton Centre.
It is easy to see how some performers can become overwelled by a huge stage production.
Some become lost in the pyrotechnics and indistinguishable from their backing dancers, but not Olly Alexander.
The 31-year-old commanded from the audience from the second he emerged from a phone box positioned in the centre of the stage.
Brighton was the first stop the Night Call Tour for Years and Years.
The stage production, which at varying times, featured a huge screen showing pre-filmed sequences, a toilet block and a bed, worked to tell the story of the different stages of big night out on the town.
The setlist was drawn from Years & Years three albums, delighting the crowd with newer tracks and chart-topping favourites.
Midway through the set, Olly welcomed on stage fans Marley and Tara, who quickly surprised her partner with an onstage proposal.
Marley said yes – prompting a huge cheer from 4,000 strong crowd.
As the show drew towards its climax, Olly slowed down the tempo to perform a version of It’s a Sin by the Pet Shop Boys.
Olly recorded a cover of the song with Elton John following his remarkable performance in the Channel 4 series of the same name.
It was apparent that Olly was in his element on the stage, allowing the audience to bask in the joy of his performance.
