A WOMAN has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after collapsing in a residential square.

Emergency services were called to Palmeira Square in Hove at 7.50am.

Two police cars blocked the entrance to the square from Church Road and an ambulance, as well as an emergency first responder, parked on the road.

Police have since reopened the road.

A witness said paramedics tended to a person who was lying on the ground before taking them away on a stretcher.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) said: “I can confirm that we were called at approximately 7.50am today to reports a person had collapsed in Palmeira Square, Hove.

“Ambulance crews attended, and a woman was given emergency treatment before being taken to hospital in a serious condition.”

Sussex Police have been approached for a comment.
