HOLIDAYMAKERS are facing further delays amid flight cancellations at Gatwick Airport.

Passengers travelling with EasyJet were reportedly experiencing “chaos” at the Sussex airport on Friday morning amid ongoing technical issues.

The issues have supposedly caused flight cancellations and long delays at the South Terminal.

Angry passengers have taken to social media to share updates, with some claiming they have missed their fight as a result of a two-hour check-in queue.

“Gatwick South Terminal is absolute chaos. Great start to people's holidays,” one holidaymaker said.

Another added: “Chaos at Gatwick Airport this morning - queues snaking back and forth and out of the doors. Very few staff and passengers missing flights.”

However, another said: At Gatwick Airport this morning - busy busy busy, but staff are flying (pardon the pun) through the security queues. Security done within 20 minutes.”

On Thursday, EasyJet grounded all of its flights due to a major tech issue.

The airline announced all Gatwick flights scheduled to take off between 1pm and 3pm would be affected by the failure.

Earlier this week, pictures from the airport showed people lining up waiting to be screened, with queues stretching for at least an hour.

Some EasyJet passengers flying received emails advising customers to arrive at Gatwick two and a half hours before their flight due to the prospect of delays.

In an email seen by The Argus, the airline said: “There may be delays at the airport security control before your flight and we recommend that you arrive at Gatwick Airport two and a half hours before your flight time.

“Please have your bags ready before you go through security, making sure any liquids are in a see-through and resealable bag, and that electronic items are carried separately.”
