BRIGHTON Festival is coming to a close this weekend, with dozens of events still to take place. 

Conversations with authors, orchestra and children’s activities are some of the best events happening today, Saturday 28. 

Global Conversations: Things We Carry 

In conversation for the first time, artist Fowzia Karimi and poet Amina Jama bring light to the value of the small things people carry, snippets of language, fading memories, and objects that continue to sustain migrants even as they leave everything else they know behind.

Saturday at 5.30pm, this is an online event

The Pirate Mums at Friends Meeting House, Brighton

A pirate-themed adventure with Jodie Lancet-Grant to celebrate her picture book The Pirate Mums. 

Join in with an interactive storytime to hear about Billy and his high-sea loving mums. 

Featuring pirate games, family portrait drawing and colouring, this event is a celebration of all kinds of families.

Ages 5+

SMOOSH! In Brighton

A core of Paraorchestra musicians, up to 50 local players and an array of professional and community dancers will form a mobile human jukebox, inviting the public out on to the street to dance and sing along.

Groove Into the Woods at Brighton Dome Concert Hall

Groove Into the Woods is an “animated and live action magical, musical adventure” which follows three friends into a fairytale forest where they learn important lessons about who you can trust, who your friends are, and which troll might eat you.

Specially designed to be a midpoint between children's shows and "regular" adult concerts, this show has something for everyone (in the kingdom).

The Archive of Favourite Places, across the city

People from communities across Brighton were asked questions and local studio Stephenson& has woven 12 tales into a city-wide immersive photography and sound exhibition.
