A MAN who stole more than £100 worth of whiskey has been issued with a community order.
Steven Mallon, 46, from North Road in Brighton, stole two bottles of Makers Mark whiskey and two bottles of Gentleman Jack whiskey, worth a total of £114, from a branch of Sainsbury’s in Brighton on March 7.
Brighton Magistrates’ Court ordered Mallon to comply with a community order, which demands that he attend appointments with an officer or participate in an activity for a maximum of five days.
Mallon must also pay a £95 victim surcharge.
No order for costs was made due to the defendant’s limited financial circumstances and his amount of outstanding fines to date.
Mallon’s guilty plea was taken into account by the court when imposing the sentence.
