THE Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend is kicking off today, causing disruption to bin collections in parts of Sussex.

Hundreds of events are happening, from picnics to firework displays, across the county over the next four days.

The double bank holiday will likely cause disruption to bin collection dates as refuse collectors take time off. 

Many Sussex councils are unaffected but with dozens of street parties taking place, road closures could lead to delays in collections.

Here are the bank holiday bin collection dates for Sussex councils:

  • Brighton and Hove City Council

No change to bin collection dates.

  • Chichester District Council

No change to bin collection dates.

  • Crawley Borough Council

Friday, June 3, now to be collected Monday, June 6

Monday, June 6, now to be collected Tuesday, June 7

  • Adur and Worthing Councils

All collections will be pushed back by two days..

  • Arun District Council

No change to bin collection dates. 

Green bin collections scheduled for Friday, June 3, now to be collected Saturday, June 4.

  • Eastbourne Borough Council

No change to bin collection dates.

  • Hastings Borough Council

No change to bin collection dates.

  • Wealden District Council

Refuse workers in Wealden are currently on strike as they seek a new pay offer with action now likely to last until June 25. Bins are unlikely to be collected during this time but a pop-up waste site has been opened today in Pevensey, between 8am and 2pm, in the Cattle Market Car Park off the High Street to take in household waste.
