THE city was graced with drag royalty as some of the world’s most talented queens took to the stage at the Brighton Centre.
Dressed to the nines, thousands gathered at the seafront venue, filled with excitement at the prospect of finally seeing their favourite drag performers in the flesh.
And they did not leave disappointed.
The Ru Paul’s Drag Race: Werq the World tour was sensational and showcased some of the very best talent from the enormously popular TV talent show.
Hosted by Asia O’Hara, the show delighted fans who had waited more than a year to see it after the coronavirus pandemic forced its postponement.
Asia had the audience in the palm of her hands from the beginning, climbing off the stage, even knocking over a speaker in the process, to get up close and personal with the crowd.
The American drag queen, who found fame on season ten of Drag Race, even invited two volunteers – Joe from Brighton and Amy from Newcastle – on stage for a lip-sync battle.
Joe from Brighton quickly became a crowd favourite, winning the battle with his performance of the Spice Girls’ hit Wannabe.
The show included energetic performances Jorgeous, Lady Camden, Plastique Tiara, Rose, Vanessa Vanjie, series 11 winner Yvie Oddly and season 12 winner Jaida Essence Hall.
A standing ovation brought the show to a close as the queens took to the stage together for a final group performance.
The crowd left covered in confetti and beaming from ear to ear after an evening filled with fun and laughter.
