HUNDREDS of adults and children alike were treated to sunshine as they celebrated at a Queen’s jubilee picnic.

Held at the Royal Pavilion gardens in Brighton, the public were encouraged to bring their own food and drinks and partake in the platinum jubilee festivities.

The event, titled Our Royal Picnic, was a collaborative effort between Brighton and Hove City Council and the Brighton Fringe festival.

The mother-of-two said while not massive royalists, "it's hard not to love the Queen".

"Thankfully the sun has come out, the kids are playing and there is live music too which is a bonus. What a day to be in Brighton," she said.

"We like the Queen - who doesn't. We're just here to have a nice family day out."

Glen, a Union Jack flag seller at the picnic, said trade had stepped up significantly on Saturday.

“I’ve been here the last three or so days, but today [Saturday] is the only day I’ve made much money. People are going for it today,” he said.

“And I will give a homeless charity a donation from any money I make from across the whole long weekend.
