ARMED police responded after an air rifle was fired into a communal gardens.

Emergency services responded to the incident in Bulkington Avenue in Worthing at about 2.30pm on Sunday, June 5.

Police received a report of someone firing an air rifle at a property.

Officers, including firearms units and dog units, were called to the scene.

“Some of the occupants of the property admitted they were responsible for firing the air rifle into communal gardens,” a police spokesman said.

“An air rifle was seized from the property and strong words of advice were given.”

No arrests were made by police, and nobody was harmed or injured during the incident, police said.

Photographs taken at the scene show a number of officers and police vehicles.

A firearms unit and dog unit were also pictured at the scene.

A street party in celebration of the Queen’s platinum jubilee was due to take place in nearby South Farm Road on Sunday afternoon.

The road was to be closed from the north side of Pavilion Road to the north side of Henty Road.

Pavilion Road and Westcourt Road were due to remain open.
