THE council organised an engagement day with delivery drivers from takeaway app Just Eat to help make the city’s roads safer.

Highways and community safety teams from Brighton and Hove City Council and the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) met with the drivers at the company’s Hove hub to discuss how to improve road safety.

The group discussed some of the issues raised by local residents and the concerns drivers had when out and about.

SSRP officers also spoke with drivers about safe and legal riding on the city’s roads.

Councillor Steve Davis, who co-chairs the council’s environment, transport and sustainability committee, also attended the engagement day and said: “I’d like to thank Just Eat for welcoming us to their hub so that we could talk about safety on our roads.

“We had a great day talking to drivers about their work, and the challenges of moving around a busy city, and I was also able to share some of the concerns of local residents.

“Sustainable deliveries are a really important part of Brighton and Hove’s economy, so it’s important we work together to make sure safety is a priority for everyone.”
