The team arrived at Tarring Road, Worthing after being alerted by the police this morning.
Images taken at the scene show Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team members attending a property in the road.
The road is currently closed whilst the crews deal with the incident.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Police attended an address in Tarring Road, Worthing at about 9am on Wednesday, June 8.
"Inside the address, officers were concerned about a suspicious package that was found.
"The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team has been called to the scene.
"The road in the area has been closed as a precaution, and officers have thanked residents for their patience while this incident is resolved."
