RESIDENTS and staff at a care home were treated to a street-style party on their roof terrace to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The royal celebrations at Dean Wood Bupa Care Home in Warren Road, Brighton, featured a buffet of traditional British delicacies, bucks fizz and mocktails, as well as on-site entertainment.

Care home residents also watched documentaries about the Queen, her coronation and her marriage to the Duke of Edinburgh.

Valarie Brown, one of the residents, said: “I absolutely loved our Jubilee celebrations as I adore the Queen and think she is such a wonderful person.

“Throughout my lifetime I have enjoyed watching many of the Queen’s big milestones - from her coronation to her wedding to her silver and gold jubilees, so it felt very moving to celebrate her 70 years of incredible service.”

The festivities were organised by Julie Mullen, activities coordinator at the care home, who said the team and residents had a “brilliant time” marking the historic occasion.

She said: “Not only was it a fantastic opportunity to pay homage to the Queen’s service, but it was also a great enrichment opportunity for our residents - boosting their wellbeing and providing them with a lovely chance to reminisce about their memories of the Queen’s reign.”
