RESIDENTS and visitors have flocked to the coast as Sussex was bathed in sunshine.

Thousands of people enjoyed the warm weather along Brighton beach and the esplanade, with some going for a swim in the sea to make the most of the weather.

Others took the opportunity to catch some rays and sunbathe as the mercury hit 18C.

According to the Met Office, Brighton is set for more warm weather over the next week, with temperatures expected to reach as high as 24C by Wednesday.

Tomorrow is expected to be sunny, changing to cloudy by lunchtime with highs of 18C, while Tuesday and Wednesday is expected to be sunny with temperatures reaching 20C and 24C respectively.

A spokesman for the Met Office said the outlook for next week is “dry with good sunny spells and warming temperatures for much of the UK, becoming very warm in places”.

However, in bad news for hay fever sufferers, very high pollen is expected across the city over the next week.
