FIREFIGHTERS attended a blaze at a derelict property.

Crews from Crowborough, Mayfield, Wadhurst, Uckfield and Lewes were first called to the fire in Old Lane, Crowborough, at about 9.20pm on Monday, June 13.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue said a number of nearby roads were closed, and urged the public to find alternative routes if travelling through the area.

By 11pm, firefighters from Hailsham and Forest Row crews had also arrived at the scene.

Sussex Police closed off additional nearby roads and diversions were put in place.

At midnight, firefighters were using three 1 in 7 foam jets and two 45mm jets to extinguish the fire.

UK Power Networks and a building inspector had also been requested to attend the scene.

Road closures remained in place at that time.
