NEW research has revealed the best viewpoints across the UK based on TripAdvisor reviews.
Brighton’s i360 observation tower has ranked the fourth most mentioned viewpoints, according to the study.
It was carried out by Remitly, a leading digital financial services provider for immigrants and their families, and analysed over 1.4 million TripAdvisor reviews to find which attractions have left visitors talking about its view most regularly.
The results were then ranked to name the greatest viewpoints in the world, in addition to those within various countries, including the UK.
The top three viewpoints in the country were the London Eye with 34,975 mentions, Edinburgh Castle with 16,899 mentions and Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge with 4,444.
British Airways i360, with 2,628 mentions in reviews, was followed by the Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool, The Necropolis in Glasgow, the Library of Birmingham, Cloud 23 in Manchester, Hengistbury Head in Bournemouth and Cardiff Bay.
Across the world, with its panoramic view mentioned by reviewers over 42,000 times, the Rockefeller Center’s Top of the Rock took the crown.
The London Eye follows, while the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa and Prague’s Charles Bridge also feature in the top ten.
Jago McKenzie, principal business manager at Remitly said: “Whether you’ve moved somewhere new or are just visiting somewhere for the first time, getting a good view of a place can be a great way to get a feel for the location, and give that satisfying feeling that you’ve truly ‘arrived’.
“Under the hashtags for 'newhome' or 'imoved' on Instagram, we can see many photos of people looking out over a view of where they will now be calling home, so we wanted to use our research to help people no matter where they’ve moved, to find the best viewpoints close to them.
“The diversity of the findings from dense cityscapes to natural wonders just goes to show the beauty the world has to offer, and why we should continue to celebrate moving around it and experiencing new sights and sounds”.
