A 72-YEAR-OLD man has died after being hit by a car this morning.

Paramedics were called to The Green in St Leonards, near Hastings, and performed CPR but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 56-year-old man, thought to be driving a black BMW, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The road has been closed since 10am while police investigate the incident.

It is unclear when it will reopen.

A tent has also been put up by police.

Sussex Police are appealing for information following the fatal crash.

Roads policing unit sergeant Kieran McDonald said: “We are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.

“In particular, anyone who saw a black BMW travelling from the direction of Gillsmans Hill before turning into The Green in St Leonards is asked to report it to us.”
