A CHARITY that helps children and young people with disabilities has received funding from a housebuilder.

Wellspring West Sussex provides information, dialogue, discussion and workshops for the children in its care.

The charity was awarded £1,000 by Persimmon Homes through the Community Champions initiative, which selects two local causes to support each month.

The Argus:

Lizzie Baily, from Wellspring, said: “We will use this funding to support our Wheely Wonders family days, specifically designed for children and young people with additional needs.

“Families will be able to attend my private smallholding in Sidlesham free of charge, where they can meet the farm animals, create craft items to remember the day and participate in Forest School activities such as sawing wood and lighting a fire with flint and steel.

The Argus:

“Families with special needs children have experienced high levels of isolation and have been shielding during the pandemic.

“We aim to provide a valuable way for families with special needs children and young people to come together, support each other and have fun.

“The days help to support the mental health of the parents as well boost the confidence of the child or young person through all the activities we provide which are adapted for every participant.”
